SALEM, VIRGINIA — The annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event will take place Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center and this year be modified to maintain COVID-19 protocols. The Stand Down will provide a boxed meal and other supplies, including flu/Hep A shots, and information on housing and other resources.

A shuttle service will be provided, and shuttles are limited to eight Veterans per trip. If more than eight Veterans at are any given stop, the bus will return as many times as necessary to transport eligible Veterans.

Rescue Mission Pick-up: 8 a.m. A second pick-up, if necessary, 8:35 a.m.

RAM House Pick-up: 8:40 a.m.

Samaritan Inn Pick-up: 8:45 a.m.

HAT Pick-up: 8:50 a.m.

Salem VAMC Pick-up: 9:05 a.m. (Building 11 entrance)

Rescue Mission Drop-off: Leaves Salem Civic Center (SCC) at 9:45 a.m.

Motel-6 Pick-up: 10:30 a.m. (first group)

RAM, Samaritan Inn, HAT and Salem VAMC Drop-off: Leaves SCC at 11 a.m.

Motel-6 Pick-up: 11:45 a.m. (second group)

Motel-6 Drop-off: Leaves SCC at noon (first group)

Motel-6 Drop-off: Leaves SCC at 1:30 p.m. (second group)

The Stand Down for Homeless Veterans is sponsored by the Salem VA Health Care System, Roanoke Valley Veterans Council, Total Action for Progress (TAP), and the Department of Labor.
