Long's Farm Supply

Campbell County Animal Control will hold a drive-through Rabies Clinic on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Long's Farm Supply, located at 1103 Lynchburg Avenue in Brookneal.

Corban Veterinary Services will be conducting the clinic. The rabies vaccine will be given at a cost of $10.00 each (cash or check made payable to Corban Veterinary Services only). Dogs and cats can be vaccinated. Pet owners do not have to be a resident of Campbell County to participate.

Citizens should keep their animals in their vehicle. A veterinarian will give the
vaccinations to the animals in the vehicle. Lines will form in the large parking lot south of Long's Farm Supply. Due to Covid, pet owners have been asked to bring a pen and/or clipboard to write on, as these items will not be circulated.

To receive a form in advance, those interested may obtain a printed form from Long's Farm Supply, downloadable here: Brookneal Rabies Clinic Vaccination Consent Form, or by emailing: jbdavid@campbellcountyva.gov to request one.

All dogs and cats in Campbell County are required to be vaccinated for rabies starting at four months of age. An animal’s first rabies shot is good for one year. Subsequent rabies vaccinations given close to expiration date are good for three years. If an animal has had a previous rabies vaccination, please bring the old certificate for proof. Pet owners must have proof of prior vaccination to get the three-year vaccination.

On the day of the Rabies Clinic, rabies certificates will not be distributed. Animal control will mail certificates later.

It is important to save the vaccination certificate. It is required to present a current rabies certificate to the Campbell County Treasurer to purchase a dog license in Campbell County. Dog licenses are required by the end of January for the current year.
