A William Campbell player and an Altavista player battle for a rebound in Jan. 21 hard-fought boys hoops action in Naruna

NARUNA -- William Campbell’s boys basketball team (2-6, 3-12) was edged by Altavista in a hard fought Jan. 21 Naruna nail-biter. Coach Teron Watson’s Generals fell to the Colonels 58-53 in the matchup. Altavista would stretch out to a 14-point lead late into the third quarter before the Generals would rally to take a 1-point lead with just three minutes left to play. 

Altavista would seal the victory after a clutch jumper from Bailey Stinnette and two free throws from Stuart Hunt. The Colonels were led in scoring by junior guard Jayllen Jones, who poured in 15 points, while Stinnette and Marquel Dawkins both added 11. 

The Generals were led by freshman Russell Thompsom and Jermiah Smith, who both scored 12 points apiece in the loss. 

William Campbell has an away conference game vs. Gretna today, Wednesday, Feb. 5. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
