Orlando Community Mourns 14-Year-Old Colton Remsburg After Fatal Scooter Accident

A quiet Sunday afternoon in Central Florida turned into a nightmare for one family and an entire school community after 14-year-old Colton Remsburg was struck by a pickup truck while riding an electric scooter.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that Colton was transported by emergency responders to Arnold Palmer Hospital following the collision, but the injuries he sustained proved fatal.

News of his passing spread rapidly across social media, and within hours, hundreds of people who knew him and many who did not were stopping to grieve a young boy whose life ended far too soon.

Colton was a student at Innovation Middle School in Central Florida, where he was known not just as a classmate but as someone who brought genuine energy and warmth to everyone around him.

Friends and parents who took to social media described him as an athlete, a passionate fisherman, a loving big brother, and a kid with the kind of spirit that leaves a lasting impression.

He was 14 years old with an entire future ahead of him, and the people who loved him are now left to carry that loss in the hardest way imaginable.

The accident sent shockwaves through the Innovation Middle School community almost immediately.

Parents began sharing their condolences and tributes online, many of them writing about the pain their own children were feeling as they tried to process the sudden death of a friend and teammate.

The grief was described as immediate, deep, and the kind that does not come with easy words or simple comfort.

A School Community United in Grief

Coral Natalie Negrón Almodóvar, a Central Florida parent whose son Aaron counted Colton among his dearest friends, shared a tribute that resonated with thousands of people across the region.

She described the sorrow rippling through the student body as impossible to put into words and spoke directly about the cruelty of losing a child who had so much life still ahead of him.

Her post called on parents everywhere to hold their children a little tighter and reminded everyone that life can change in a single moment without warning.

Other members of the community echoed similar sentiments. Posts poured in from teachers, neighbors, fellow athletes, and parents who had watched Colton grow up, each one painting a picture of a boy who mattered deeply to the people around him.

Several described him as a bright light and a pure soul, the kind of kid who made a room better just by being in it. The outpouring was a testament to the kind of life Colton lived in his 14 years and the mark he left behind.

Community Donates Over $35,000 to Support Colton’s Family

As the grief settled in, friends of the family moved quickly to offer practical support.

Jessie Marceau organized a GoFundMe campaign on behalf of Colton’s parents, Clint and Ashley Remsburg, to help cover funeral arrangements, memorial costs, and basic household needs during one of the most devastating periods a family can endure.

The campaign described Colton as a proud and loving big brother and called on the wider community to come together so that his parents could focus on grieving without the added weight of financial pressure.

The response was immediate and overwhelming. Within just 23 hours of the campaign launching, more than 520 donors contributed over $35,000 toward the $50,000 goal.

Donations came in from strangers across the country alongside heartfelt messages of prayer and solidarity.

Colton Remsburg was 14 years old. Central Florida will not forget him.
