Redditch, Man Attacked and Robbed at Knifepoint by Teen Gang at Arrow Valley Park

A man was attacked and robbed at Arrow Valley Park in Redditch yesterday evening in a disturbing incident that has left the local community shaken and calling for action.

The victim, whose daughter shared details of the assault on the Facebook group Spotted: Redditch, was set upon by a group of six or seven teenagers, two of whom were girls.

The attackers pushed him to the ground, kicked him repeatedly, and stole his phone. One of the male members of the group produced a knife during the attack. The incident took place just before 8pm. The victim believes his attackers were around 14 to 15 years old.

His daughter wrote on the community page:

“I just want it out there so we can possibly find out who these vile disgusting kids are. We don’t have much to go on but maybe if someone saw something or any parents know that their kids were there last night. Thankfully my dad is ok but this could happen again and the outcome could be very different.”

The post quickly drew responses from concerned residents. Many urged the family to contact police and pointed to the possibility of CCTV footage helping to identify the offenders.

Kelly Hobbit Harrington suggested:

“Is there any CCTV around the lake that might be able to pick up a group of teens in the area around that time. Maybe not them involved but would give a start for enquiring and ruling individuals out. If police are involved I am sure that would be what they are doing.”

Patrick Marshall echoed the same sentiment, adding:

“There should be CCTV on the lake, it’s worth reporting. From experience it takes a lot to get over being attacked by a bunch of children. Please report it.”

Adie Cole offered a practical tip, saying:

“Try Lidl CCTV, they may have gone in for food or drink.” David Fisher suggested the family try to track the stolen phone, writing: “See if you can get the tracker to operate on your dad’s phone, that will show up the area it’s in.”

Tracy Lewis raised broader safety concerns about the park, writing:

“There absolutely needs to be CCTV at regular intervals around that park. Same when Nick the Bird Man was severely attacked a few years back. This needs to be addressed properly for everyone’s safety. There is simply not enough security at all.”

The attack has reignited frustration among residents about youth violence and parental responsibility in the area. Vicky Overthrow said:

“Know where your kids are and what they are up to. It is parents’ responsibility to bring children up with respect. The world has gone mad.”

Michele Simmons, who revealed her own grandson had experienced a similar attack, offered her support to the family, saying she hoped all those responsible for such attacks would be caught.

The victim is said to be physically okay following the assault. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police.
