The community of Richmond, Missouri, is mourning the loss of Gabriel James Holloway, a bright and beloved 10-year-old whose life left a deep impression on family, friends, and everyone who knew him.
Gabriel passed away on March 3, 2026, at Children’s Mercy Hospital after facing several serious illnesses. Though his life was short, those closest to him say his kindness, humor, and curiosity filled every day with joy.
Gabriel was born on November 13, 2015, in North Kansas City, Missouri, to his parents, Timothy James “TJ” Holloway and Jennifer Marie (Sykes) Holloway.
He grew up in Richmond, where he was surrounded by a loving family and a supportive community that watched him grow into a thoughtful and imaginative young boy.
Family members describe Gabriel as both smart and funny, with a personality that brought warmth into any room. He loved cuddling with family, playing games on his tablet, watching movies, and reading books.
Like many children his age, he was fascinated by dinosaurs and dragons, often spending time playing with toy creatures and creating stories around them.
Animals were another passion of his, and those close to him say he dreamed of becoming an animal rescuer someday.
Gabriel also had big dreams about the world beyond his hometown. He hoped one day to travel to places such as China and Hawaii. At times, he spoke about becoming a missionary, wanting to help people and share kindness with others.
His favorite colors were blue, green, and red, and his playful spirit often showed through his laughter, which his family affectionately described as sounding like a dolphin when he was especially excited.
Gabriel lived with autism and attention deficit disorder, but his family remembers him as a calm and easygoing child who moved through life at his own pace.
Those who knew him say he had a gentle nature and a unique way of seeing the world that made him truly special.
Even in death, Gabriel’s story continues to bring hope. Through organ donation, he helped save three lives, a final act of generosity that has provided comfort to his grieving family.
His parents say knowing their son helped others live has been a powerful reminder of the goodness he carried throughout his life.
Gabriel is survived by his parents, TJ and Jennifer Holloway of Richmond, and his sister Julia Holloway.
He also leaves behind many relatives who loved him deeply, including his uncles Jeff Sykes and Chris Sykes, aunts Rachel Lacore and Crystal Holloway, and numerous grandparents, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his brother Orion Holloway, his sister Angelina Holloway, and his paternal grandmother Margaret Holloway.
As the Holloway family navigates their grief, members of the community have stepped forward to help. A fundraiser organized by Jennifer Holloway has been created to assist with funeral expenses and support the family as they care for Gabriel’s sister, who has also been experiencing health concerns.
Funeral services for Gabriel are scheduled for March 16, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Richmond, with visitation taking place the evening before at Thurman Funeral Home. Gabriel will be laid to rest at Richmond Memory Gardens.
For those who knew him, Gabriel Holloway will be remembered for his gentle heart, his imagination, and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
His story has left a lasting mark on his family and community, and his memory continues to inspire acts of kindness and compassion.
