William Campbell Combined School

The William Campbell Generals traveled to Tightsqueeze last Friday night, picking up a big 36-24 victory over Chatham in Dogwood District football action. Following a back and forth contest in the first half, the Generals would take a 20-17 lead into the third period. The Cavaliers then kept the game close, thanks in part to their rushing attack led by tailback Kendell Sanders, who darted 56 yards for the score to put Chatham ahead one last time, 24-20.

The final quarter belonged to the Generals as receiver Russell Thompson caught a go-ahead TD pass from quarterback Montavius Thompson to give William Campbell a lead they would not relinquish. Thompson later added another TD reception to put the game out of reach and put a damper on Chatham’s Homecoming. With last Friday’s game, the Generals earned their third win in the last four games.

William Campbell (3-3, 3-1 Dogwood District) is scheduled for a bye week this Friday.
