The William Campbell Generals’ football squad rebounded from last week’s loss to Gretna and got back in the win column at home last Thursday night. They blanked Nelson County 48-0. The game was moved up a day due to the threat of inclement weather. Still, William Campbell coach Danny Broggin managed to get his team firing on all cylinders against the Governors even without a full week to prepare.
Generals’ quarterback Montevius Thompson had himself quite a ball game, passing for over 200 yards and four touchdowns, including two passes to receiver JaCoriyous Graves. Running backs Ladarius Berkley and Amont’e Bradley joined in on the fun as both scored rushing touchdowns of their own.
Receivers Russell Thompson and Elijah Jackson also added scores to lead a balanced offensive attack. The Generals’ defensive front dominated the Governors all evening, blitzing and pressuring their way to their first shutout since 2019.
William Campbell (2-3, 2-1 Dogwood District) will hit the road to face Chatham (3-2) on Friday night at 7 p.m.
