Stephanie Titterton, 23, Baltimore Accountant Who Volunteered for IRS and Elderly Tax Programs, Dies Suddenly

Stephanie G. Titterton, a 23-year-old accountant and dedicated community volunteer, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2026.

A Baltimore resident and formerly of Gloucester Township, New Jersey, Stephanie packed more purpose, compassion, and joy into her short life than most people manage in a lifetime.

Born and raised in Gloucester Township, Stephanie was the kind of person who made every room warmer just by walking into it.

She was affectionately called “Squishy” by those who knew her growing up, a nickname that stuck because it suited her perfectly.

Beneath an infectious sense of humor was a young woman with an enormous heart and a genuine desire to make life better for the people around her.

At Highland High School, class of 2020, Stephanie threw herself into everything. She served as President of the National Honor Society, competed on the tennis, lacrosse, and swim teams, and even wore the Highland Tartan mascot costume.

Her commitment to the school and its community set the tone for who she would become. In Gloucester Township, she also gave years of her time to TBAA, first as a player, then a volunteer, and eventually as a coach for younger kids.

When Stephanie left for Loyola University Maryland, she did not slow down. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees there, building serious expertise in finance and accounting while continuing to find ways to give back.

She volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly, sitting alongside people who needed help navigating some of the most confusing paperwork of their lives. She also tutored students at Govans Elementary School in Baltimore.

Her work did not go unnoticed. The IRS, the Department of the Treasury, and the city of Baltimore all recognized Stephanie with honors for her service to others.

These were not the kind of accolades someone earns by showing up occasionally. They reflected years of consistent, selfless effort.

After completing her graduate degree, Stephanie joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as an accountant, beginning what would have been a remarkable professional career. Her colleagues and mentors had every reason to expect great things.

Outside of work and volunteering, Stephanie loved to travel and brought real enthusiasm to everything she explored.

She had a sense of adventure that matched her sense of humor. The people who knew her describe someone who was always fully present, always ready to laugh, and always genuinely interested in the people around her.

She is survived by her parents Catherine and Stephen Titterton, her sister Catherine, her aunts and uncles Michael Cortese, Maria Hering, Robert Hering, Anne Titterton, Edward Titterton, and Susan Titterton, and her cousins Grace Hering, Ava Olson, Edward and James Titterton, Annarose Haws, Richard Haws, Donald Haws, and Thomas Haws.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in Runnemede, New Jersey, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Interment will be private per the family’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Highland Renaissance Club, c/o Kimberly Loring, 450 Erial Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012.

Stephanie Titterton deserved decades more. The people whose lives she touched are lucky to have known her.
