Two Bertie County men were arrested Monday after a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that ended on I-64 E following a crash on the exit ramp to Exit 291B at I-464, according to Virginia Beach Police. Court documents obtained by 10 On Your Side state that two victims were robbed at gunpoint Sunday night.

The suspects ordered the victims to give up their belongings and shoved them to the ground while pointing guns at their heads.

The victims handed over their money, wallets, cell phones, jewelry and car keys as demanded. The suspects then left the scene.
Both men are charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of carjacking, four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
Virginia Beach Police said an officer spotted the stolen vehicle on I-264. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the suspects did not stop. The vehicle continued onto eastbound I-64, where it lost control and crashed on the exit ramp to Exit 291B at I-464.
Police said both suspects got out of the crashed vehicle and ran, with a VBPD officer chasing them. During the foot pursuit, an officer fired at one of the suspects but did not hit him. A VBPD K9 unit found that suspect shortly after, and officers took him into custody. Police later located the second suspect and arrested him without incident. Two firearms were recovered at the scene.
Because the shooting occurred in Chesapeake, Virginia State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the criminal investigation into the officer’s firearm discharge.
No officers were injured.
