Tyrque Jones to Remain in Custody on Terrorizing Warrant

Tyrque Jones will remain in custody after police discovered an outstanding terrorizing warrant from Cass County, officials confirmed Friday.

Jones was arrested in Hennepin County, Minnesota, following a four-month search related to the August 3 fatal shooting of Azeem Holmes in downtown Fargo. Homicide charges against him were later dismissed, and he was initially set to be released after his interview in Hennepin County corroborated video evidence from the scene.

However, authorities found a July 1 warrant for terrorizing—unrelated to the shooting—which now prevents his release. Fargo Police Captain Matt Christiansen said he was initially unaware of the warrant and called the court records “new information” to him.

Jones is expected to be extradited to Cass County, though no extradition hearing has been scheduled yet in Hennepin County.
