Marizsa Maldonado Arrazola Remembered for Her Courage, Laughter, and Love for Her Daughter

Marizsa Maldonado Arrazola, 28, of Abilene, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Her passing, after a courageous ten-month battle with cancer, leaves a void in the hearts of her family that will never be filled.

Marizsa was born on July 15, 1997, and was known to her family as “La Reyna,” a fitting title for someone whose presence was a source of warmth, strength, and unconditional love.

Her greatest dream and most profound joy were realized with the birth of her daughter, Rozia Arrazola, in September 2024.

Just four months later, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer after enduring months of misdiagnosis. A chest X-ray, ordered by a persistent doctor, finally revealed a tumor in her left lung that had already spread.

A full-body MRI confirmed her family’s worst fear: the cancer had reached her bones. Through it all, her fight was fueled by her love for her baby girl, who became her pride and joy.

Thank you for the all the condolences and prayers for our family.
Especially thank you for any donations made, marizsa didn’t have any life insurance, so her funeral will be paid out of pocket.

Above all else, Marizsa was family-oriented.

She cherished her role as a daughter, sister, and Tía to all her nieces and nephews, always the first to lend a helping hand.

She was known for her impeccable sense of style and had a gift for keeping up with the latest trends, but her true beauty radiated from her generous and loving heart.

Her legacy of love will be carried on by her parents, Gumaro Sr. and Viky Maldonado Arrazola; her cherished daughter, Rozia Arrazola; her siblings: Jose Antonio Arrazola and his wife Dominique, Marisol Delacruz and her husband Manuel Delacruz III, Juana Arrazola, Gumaro M. Arrazola and his partner Emily, Pablo Arrazola, Hilda Arrazola, and Teresa Arrazola; as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family who will miss her dearly.

The love and impact Marizsa leaves behind will be cherished forever in our hearts. She will be greatly missed.

Marizsa was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; her brother, Baby Jose Arrazola; her nephew, Jose Michael Arrazola; and several other beloved family members.

A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral expenses, with any remaining funds to be dedicated to the future of her beloved daughter, Rozia.

The family hosts a visitation on Thursday from 6 pm to 8 pm, and a funeral is on Friday at 2 pm at St Vincent pallotti catholic church.
