Postseason high school football honors were recently announced as William Campbell and Altavista were well represented led by Generals junior defensive end Zekeya Townes who was named Region 1B Defensive Player of the Year.

Townes finished the 2019 season with 71 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, two forced fumbles including a 60 yard return, he also has Division 1 offers from such schools as UVA, Liberty and William & Mary.

Earning 1st Team All Region on Offense were Generals running back Jordan Young and receiver/kick returner Raeshawn Stevens, Altavista’s duo of offensive lineman Nathan Weeks and wide receiver Bailey Stinnette joined them. Earning 1st Team All Region Defensive honors were Generals linebacker Junior Solario, defensive back Jonathan Hicks, punt returner Raeshawn Stevens and defensive end Zekeya Townes.

Altavista placed two on the first team as defensive tackle Nathan Weeks and linebacker Kendrick Coles earned honors as well. The following players all earned 2nd Team All Region as the Generals were represented by offensive linemen Trey Carr and Townes, all purpose Jermiah Smith, defensive tackle James Charlton, linebackers Jonathan Wood & Jordan Young with cornerback Raeshawn Stevens joining the Colonels dynamic offensive duo of quarterback Jayllen Jones and running back JaQuallen Jones.
