Tyler Garrett White, 21, of Timberlake, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
He was born on September 17, 2004, in Durham County and spent most of his life in Roxboro, where he was raised by his loving parents, Dale and Janet Garrett White.
From an early age, Tyler was known for his kind heart, easy smile, and strong connection to family, friends, and community.
He grew up surrounded by close family ties and was deeply rooted in his hometown values. Tyler’s personality was often described as goofy, humble, gentle, caring, ambitious, and devoted.
Those who knew him best also recognized his protective nature and unwavering loyalty to the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Radford “Bubba” Garrett and Roger Dale White Sr., as well as his uncle Carl Garrett.
A Passion for Baseball and Community Impact
Tyler’s love for baseball began when he was just three years old and quickly became a defining part of his life. He spent years developing his skills through school teams, church leagues, and travel baseball programs.
His dedication and talent earned him a position on the Person High School varsity baseball team as a freshman.
Throughout his high school career, Tyler achieved significant recognition, including All-State honors, three All-Conference selections, Conference Player of the Year, and the Bubba Garrett Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Player.
His performance on the field reflected not only athletic ability but also discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
After graduating in 2023, Tyler continued his baseball journey at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Virginia.
While there, he remained committed to both athletics and service, volunteering with students through the Breakfast Buddies program. His involvement demonstrated his care for others and his willingness to positively impact those around him.
Tyler’s contributions to baseball extended beyond statistics and awards. Coaches and teammates often described him as dependable, hardworking, and selfless. He had a natural ability to encourage others and bring energy to every team he joined.
Career, Personality, and Legacy
Following his education, Tyler began working for NOVEC in South Boston, Virginia. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family.
He placed a strong emphasis on relationships and faith, always prioritizing the people closest to him.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Dale and Janet Garrett White; his siblings, Blake White (Haley) and Brittany White Jamison (Nick); his nieces, Bailey Rae Jamison and Braelyn Ann Jamison; and his girlfriend, Trinity Wells.
He is also remembered by his grandmothers, Nancy Long Garrett and Brenda Bowes White, along with a large circle of extended family and friends who considered him family.
Tyler will also be remembered by many teammates, classmates, and community members who were touched by his kindness and character.
His presence left a lasting impression on those around him, especially within the baseball community and in Roxboro, where he grew up.
Funeral services were held at Roxboro Baptist Church, with burial following at Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation was held at Brooks & White Funeral Home. Memorial contributions were made to the Rocket Club and Antioch Baptist Church in his honor.
Tyler Garrett White’s life will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to baseball, and his genuine kindness toward others.
