Oliver Prather Jr., 56, of Faulkner, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, following a two-vehicle crash in Union County.
His passing occurred in New Albany at Baptist Memorial Hospital, after emergency responders were called to the scene of a serious collision on Highway 30.
The incident has left family and community members mourning the sudden loss of a loved one whose life ended unexpectedly on a busy spring Monday morning.
According to information released by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:34 a.m. when Prather was traveling westbound in a 2011 Lincoln MKZ.
His vehicle collided with an eastbound 2023 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 64-year-old woman from Dumas, identified as Susan Stephens.
The circumstances that led to the collision remain under investigation, and authorities have not released further details regarding contributing factors.
Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene along Highway 30 in Union County. Despite efforts at the scene, Prather sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Toyota 4Runner survived the collision. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident to determine the sequence of events and any additional details that may clarify how the crash occurred.
Prather’s body was transferred to Foster and Son Funeral Home in Ripley, Mississippi, where arrangements were made. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Falkner.
A second visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the same church. His body will lie in state one hour before the service.
Family, friends, and community members will gather to honor his life and support those closest to him during this difficult time.
