Austin, Texas, Former Texas A&M Offensive Lineman Chad Loitz, 31, Passes Away, Leaving His Family

Chad Loitz, a former Texas A&M offensive lineman who also starred at Round Rock McNeil High School, has died.

The news came from the Facebook page Texas Football Life, which shared a tribute honoring his memory and offering condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and coaches. No cause of death or exact date has been released publicly at this time.

A Standout Offensive Lineman

Loitz was born on May 21, 1995, in Austin, Texas, the son of Whitney and Dean Loitz. He grew up in the Austin area and attended Round Rock McNeil High School, graduating in 2013.

Under coach Lee Pendland, he developed into a two-time all-district offensive lineman and earned honorable mention all-state honors during his senior season. He also served as a two-time team captain for the Mavericks and competed in baseball and track and field, showing the kind of versatility that made him a standout on the football field.

His performance in high school caught the attention of college recruiters, and Loitz went on to play for Texas A&M, where he suited up as an interior offensive lineman from 2013 through 2016. Standing 6 feet 1 and weighing 325 pounds, he was known for his size and strength in the trenches, helping anchor the Aggies’ offensive line during his years in College Station.

He majored in nutritional science while balancing the demands of Southeastern Conference football. Records show he wore number 62 for the Aggies and appeared in games, including a 2016 matchup against Prairie View A&M at Kyle Field.

Tributes Pour In From Aggie Community

The response to news of his passing has been swift and heartfelt across social media.

Commenters flooded the Texas Football Life post with prayers, condolences, and personal memories. One person recalled sharing a house party with him, writing that he would catch up with him again one day. Others simply offered short prayers or expressed shock at the loss, a reflection of how many lives Loitz touched both on and off the field during his years playing football in Texas.

Loitz was part of a recruiting class considered among the more promising offensive line groups Texas A&M brought in during that era, with evaluators noting his physical tools and potential to be a difference-maker at the college level.

While his college statistics were not headline-making, his role as a lineman meant his contributions often came in the form of protection and push in the trenches, work that rarely shows up in a box score but is essential to any offense.

As more information becomes available regarding services or further details surrounding his passing, the Aggie football community and fans from his days at McNeil High School are expected to continue sharing memories and support for the Loitz family. For now, those who knew him are left honoring the memory of a teammate, friend, and former captain who left an impression wherever he played.
