Alex C. Tone, 31, of Lima, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
His passing has left a deep void among those who knew him, as he is remembered for his devotion to his daughter, his strong family bonds, and the kindness he showed throughout his life.
Born on June 24, 1994, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Alex was the son of Teresa (Silone) Tone and Quentin Craig Tone, both of whom survive him in Lima.
He spent his early years in Kansas before later building his life in Ohio, where he formed lasting friendships and deep community connections.
Alex graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School in 2013. After completing his education, he entered the workforce and was employed at Hobby Lobby for more than three years.
During his time there, he was known as a dependable and well-liked employee who treated coworkers with respect and positivity. Those who worked alongside him often described him as someone who brought a steady, calm presence to the workplace.
Above all else, Alex was a devoted father. His daughter, Aspen Tone of Lima, was the center of his world.
He was actively involved in her life and consistently worked to provide her with care, stability, and meaningful experiences. Family members noted that his love for her was constant and evident in everything he did.
Outside of work and family life, Alex found peace in simple passions. Skateboarding offered him a sense of freedom and reflection, while fishing trips, especially those taken to Michigan’s Fletcher Pond, became cherished traditions.
These moments outdoors were among his favorites, allowing him to connect with nature and with those closest to him.
Alex also had a strong enthusiasm for sports. He was a loyal supporter of Tampa Bay teams, including the Rays, Buccaneers, and Lightning.
His interest in these teams was more than casual; it was something he followed closely and enjoyed sharing with others.
He also appreciated spending time in Southwest Florida, where he felt a personal connection and sense of enjoyment.
He is survived by his mother, Teresa Tone, and stepfather Quentin Craig Tone of Lima; his daughter, Aspen Tone; his brothers Scott Tone and his wife Tracey of Lima, Brian Tone of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Craig Tone and his wife Amanda of Lima.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Chase, Lindsey, Max, Zane, Wyatt, and Grey, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Anthony “Tony” Silone and Maria Silone, and his paternal grandparents Quentin “Tony” Tone and Mable (Bittinger) Tone.
A visitation for Alex will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chiles Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel in Lima, Ohio.
A Wake Service will follow at 7 p.m., officiated by Father David Ross. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories in honor of his life.
In a final act of generosity, Alex chose to be an organ donor, a decision that reflected his selfless nature and desire to help others even in death.
According to family members, a “hero walk” was planned at St. Rita’s Medical Center, where hospital staff and loved ones would line the halls to honor him as he was taken to the operating room.
His family expressed hope that many would attend to recognize his lasting gift to others.
Memorial contributions may be made to support his daughter Aspen’s future education.
Alex will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
