A young woman full of life, laughter, and love has left behind a community in mourning. Journee Cullars, affectionately called “GeGe” by those who knew her best, passed away on May 22, 2026, at just 20 years old, following a car accident that shocked her family and everyone around her.
Journee was the kind of young woman who filled every room she entered with warmth. Her family remembered her for her bright smile and jolly personality, the sort of spirit that made people feel at ease the moment she walked in.
To her mother, she was the daughter who never let a day go by without checking in. “Ma where you at?” “Ma what we doing today?” “Ma what we eating?” Those familiar words, now silenced forever, have left a wound in her mother’s heart that no amount of time may fully heal.
Her mother, speaking through immeasurable grief, shared just how devastating the loss has been. “This is so hard for me,” she said. “But I know that my middle baby would want me to try to stay strong for her.”
Those words reflect the kind of relationship Journee had with the people who loved her most, a bond built on everyday moments that now feel irreplaceable.
Her father, Ace Hunter, took to social media to express a pain that goes beyond words. “My heart is broken into a million pieces,” he wrote. “I will never recover.”
He described Journee as always being his number one, a title she clearly earned not through grand gestures but through the everyday joy she brought to his life. He asked for space and time to grieve privately, as the weight of losing a child settled over him.
The outpouring of condolences from friends, family, and community members has been immediate and heartfelt.
People who knew the family and those who simply came across the story online offered prayers and words of support, all united in the recognition that 20 years old is far too young. Too many lives, too many futures, are being cut short on roads that should lead somewhere better.
Journee leaves behind a family that is now leaning on each other and on their community to get through what no family should ever have to face.
In her memory, loved ones have organized a period of visitation and fellowship at the Cleo Griffin Center in Claxton, Georgia, running from May 27 through May 29, 2026. A formal service is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The family has expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received in the days since Journee’s passing.
She was known online and among friends by the nicknames GeGe and Pink Barbie, names that carried her personality and the way she carried herself through life with color and confidence.
Journee Cullars did not get to see 21. She did not get more mornings asking her mother what they would eat or where they would go. But the love she gave and the life she lived in her short 20 years have clearly left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is gone too soon. Rest in peace, GeGe.
