Clear Lake High School and University of Iowa alumnus Scott McIntire Dies, Family Asks for Prayers

A tight-knit community is grieving the sudden loss of Scott McIntire, a devoted husband, father, and friend whose passing has left hundreds of people heartbroken.

His wife, Natalie Castagno McIntire, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, describing her husband as the best man she had ever known.

“Rest in peace, my love. Our protector, our provider, the father of our children, and my best friend was called to heaven yesterday,” Natalie wrote in her emotional post. “We are beyond devastated and heartbroken. He was the best man I’ve ever met, and I can’t imagine going through life without him.”

The post quickly drew an outpouring of love and condolences from the community, with more than 272 comments from friends, neighbors, and former classmates expressing their grief and support for the McIntire family.

Scott McIntire was a graduate of Clear Lake High School, class of 1999, and later attended the University of Iowa, where he graduated in 2003.

Those who knew him during his school years remembered him as someone who carried warmth and energy into every room he walked into.

Friends who commented on Natalie’s post painted a picture of a man who was genuinely kind and always present.

One commenter, Lavelle Cornelius, noted that Scott always seemed to have a smile on his face whenever they crossed paths, a detail that seemed to capture exactly who he was as a person.

That kind of memory, the simple image of a man who smiled, says something real about the kind of life Scott lived and the impression he left on people.

Taylor Stewart reached out directly to Natalie in the comments, offering to help in any way possible. “Please let me know if there is anything I can bring or do for you,” she wrote, a sentiment echoed by many others who wanted to show up for the family during this impossibly difficult time.

What stands out most in reading through the tributes is not only the grief people feel for Scott but the deep concern so many hold for Natalie and the children he leaves behind.

Friends asked for prayers specifically for the kids, recognizing that the road ahead for this family will be long and hard.

Scott was more than a husband and father. He was described by Natalie as a protector and a provider, someone who took the responsibility of caring for his family. Those words carry weight. They speak to a man who showed up every day, who put his family first, and who built something real and meaningful in his time here.

The Facebook post has since become a gathering place for the community to share memories, offer prayers, and remind Natalie that she does not have to walk this path alone.

Hundreds of people have reached out, and the number continues to grow.

Scott McIntire is survived by his wife, Natalie, and their children. No further details about services have been made public at this time.

To the McIntire family, an entire community stands with you. Scott will not be forgotten.
