Veteran Influencer Kenny Jary, Known as Patriotic Kenny, Passes Away at 84

Kenny Jary, the social media personality widely known as “Patriotic Kenny,” has passed away at the age of 84 following a battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

The news was confirmed on May 18, 2026, through posts shared across his Instagram and TikTok accounts, where he had built a devoted following of more than 4 million people combined.

“The tears may never stop flowing,” read the announcement posted to his social media. “It is with the most indescribable sadness we share that Patriotic Kenny has passed. He experienced the most profound love and was Earth’s bright light. He passed surrounded by love and he was in peace.”

Jary was a United States Navy veteran who became one of the more unlikely but deeply beloved figures to rise out of social media in recent years.

He was not chasing fame or selling a lifestyle. He simply showed up online with warmth, positivity, and a genuine love for his country and fellow veterans, and the internet responded in kind.

His story first gained widespread attention after his mobility scooter broke down, and his followers rallied together to raise enough money to replace it.

He then used the extra funds raised to help support other veterans, which eventually led to the launch of the Patriotic Kenny Foundation, a nonprofit that provides mobility scooters to veterans in need.

Jary served as the foundation’s president and remained committed to its mission right up until his final months.

What began as a small act of community generosity snowballed into something much larger. Jary’s electric scooter became iconic in its own right, a symbol of the man himself: humble, determined, and always moving forward.

His videos, often short and simple, carried messages of encouragement that resonated with people going through difficult moments in their own lives.

His friend Amanda, who helped establish the Patriotic Kenny Foundation, posted a message to his Instagram Stories addressing his followers directly.

“Kenny’s videos comforted so many of you in really, really dark times of your lives,” she wrote. “You’ve been vulnerable and have opened up to us about those moments.”

Amanda also reassured fans that his older videos would never be taken down and encouraged followers to donate to his foundation in his honor.

Earlier this year, in March, Jary revealed his stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. Despite the news, he expressed his intention to continue making videos and spreading positivity.

A GoFundMe campaign launched to support his medical costs raised more than $300,000.

Reacting to the outpouring of support at the time, Jary said in an emotional video,

“I don’t know what to say. That is just unbelievable, and I mean it. You know, if I can make some more kids and people happy and veterans, mainly veterans, I’d be so much happier.”

Those words capture who Kenny Jary truly was. A man who, even while facing a terminal diagnosis, was thinking about what more he could give rather than what he stood to lose.

His foundation will carry on his legacy, and his videos will remain a source of comfort for the millions who found something real in a man who never tried to be anything other than himself.

He was 84 years old. Rest in peace, Patriotic Kenny.
