Creve Coeur Neighbors Outraged After Kids on Bikes Shout Racial Slurs at Family During Walk

A quiet afternoon walk turned into a disturbing experience for one Creve Coeur family after a group of boys on bicycles shouted racial slurs at them on Creve Coeur Avenue.

The incident, first reported by resident Serenity Price in the local Facebook group “Creve Coeur Complaints, Concerns and Public Events,” has since sparked a wave of frustration and concern among neighbors who say this kind of behavior has become a pattern in the area.

According to Price’s post, three boys estimated to be between 12 and 15 years old were riding bikes down Creve Coeur Avenue when they screamed racial slurs at the top of their lungs at a family that included young children.

Price later updated her post to confirm that her security camera had captured the incident, including the offending language, timestamped at 2:45 p.m.

She noted the footage is blurry but said she planned to share a screenshot to help identify the boys.

Price kept her initial message direct and community-focused, simply asking parents to have conversations with their children.

“If your kids are out riding bikes down on Creve Coeur Ave please talk to them about screaming inappropriate racial slurs at the tops of their lungs, especially at a family with young children taking a walk,” she wrote.

Community Members Sound Off

The post quickly drew responses from neighbors who were equally disturbed by the news. Breanna Reyes expressed skepticism that a public callout would be enough to fix the problem.

“Unfortunately I doubt this will help. They clearly learned it from somewhere. Their parents probably do the same thing,” she commented.

Patrick Metts took a more direct approach, making clear he would not tolerate that behavior from his own children.

“Post pics if its my kids they getting the Irish spring treatment,” he wrote, a reference to disciplining his kids with soap for using foul language.

Karen Remmert raised the question many parents find themselves asking. “Where do u think they learned it?” she wrote.

Dawnielle Beebe responded by pointing out that the influence does not always come from home.

She shared that her own child once repeated a slur heard from another kid while playing video games online, and that she handled it swiftly with both a punishment and a lesson from their mixed family.

A Broader Problem on the Streets

The racial slur incident appears to be part of a larger issue with youth behavior in the neighborhood.

Another resident, PurpleLizard9838, shared a similar experience. Kids on bikes had stopped in front of her home and began mocking children jumping on a trampoline, calling one of them fat. She stepped outside and addressed them directly, and they left without incident.

She also mentioned that an older teen had recently told her family to get off the street while they were driving by. “It’s everybody’s street not just there street,” she wrote.

The incident has left many residents calling for parents to take a more active role in monitoring their children’s behavior and language.

With security footage available, Price says she hopes identifying the boys will lead to some form of accountability and prevent future incidents from happening to other families in the community.
