Elgin Senior Applications Developer Brian Signorella, 39, Dies, Leaving Behind Wife and Two Young Daughters

Brian P. Signorella, a devoted husband, father, and technology professional from Elgin, Illinois, died on June 8, 2026, at the age of 39. His passing has left a deep void in the lives of his family, friends, and the many communities he touched throughout his life.

Born on August 17, 1986, to Michael and Karen Signorella, Brian grew up in Maple Park, Illinois, where he attended local schools and graduated from Kaneland High School with the Class of 2004.

From an early age, he showed both fierce dedication and a sharp, curious mind. As a competitive wrestler throughout middle and high school, he reached the IKWF Middle School State Finals, earning second place in his eighth-grade year. That same drive would define him for the rest of his life.

A Career Built on Curiosity and Commitment

Brian went on to attend Waubonsee Community College before transferring to Northern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. His love of technology started long before college. As a kid, he would take computers apart and put them back together just to understand how they worked. That curiosity never left him.

He began his professional career in IT with Kaneland Schools, later joined Intersites, and explored several small business ventures along the way. He eventually found a meaningful place in education, serving as a Senior Applications Developer.

Those who worked alongside him described his creativity and work ethic as genuinely inspiring. He lived by a personal motto:

“Plan the work, and then work the plan.”

During his college years, Brian also embraced Catholicism and was baptized, a spiritual decision that became an important part of his identity.

A Family Man Who Lived for Others

In 2012, Brian met Amber Semmerling at a concert in Aurora. Their connection was immediate and lasting.

The two married on July 2, 2017, at Aquaviva Winery in Maple Park and later settled in Elgin, where they raised two young daughters, Ella, age 3, and Abby, age 1.

Outside of work, Brian was happiest when surrounded by people he loved. He was an enthusiastic baseball player who could spend an entire day at the game without losing interest. Summers often found him on a pontoon boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, a place that held special meaning for the family.

It was there that he proposed to Amber and later celebrated his bachelor party. He had long looked forward to sharing that same love of the water with his daughters.

Brian is survived by his wife Amber, daughters Ella and Abby, his parents Michael and Karen, brother Anthony, nephew Logan, niece Ava, mother-in-law Dawn Semmerling, and a wide circle of family and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In his memory, checks may be made out to the Brian P. Signorella Memorial and mailed to P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
