Fatal Shooting Near Bond Hill Park Claims Life of 40-Year-Old Cincinnati Man

Cincinnati police are investigating a homicide after a 40-year-old man was found shot to death near Bond Hill Park in the early hours of Monday night.

Aaron Rosemond was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds at approximately midnight on June 9 in the 1500 block of Yarmouth Avenue, just across the street from Bond Hill Park.

Officers arrived before midnight and pronounced Rosemond dead at the scene. An investigator from the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office arrived roughly 90 minutes after the initial call.

The investigation was extensive, with WLWT cameras capturing at least 20 evidence markers placed along Yarmouth Avenue, just off Reading Road. Officers covered more than a full block during their on-scene investigation, which wrapped up around 4:30 in the morning.

As of Tuesday, Cincinnati police confirmed that no arrests have been made and no suspect information has been publicly released. Investigators are actively pursuing leads in the case and are asking anyone with information to call 513-352-3542.

Shooting Follows a Violent Weekend Across Cincinnati

The Bond Hill homicide is the latest in a string of gun violence incidents that struck Cincinnati over the weekend of June 5 and 6. Seven people were injured in three separate shootings across the city during those two days.

One person was shot in Evanston on Friday night. On Saturday, three people were shot near Eden Park, and three more were shot in Avondale the same day, according to a Cincinnati Police Department spokesman.

Despite the recent spike in incidents, the broader picture for Cincinnati shows some improvement. From January 1 through early July last year, 113 people had been shot in the city, representing a roughly 17 percent drop compared to prior years.

The full year of 2025 recorded 241 shootings citywide, the lowest figure in three years and down significantly from the 313 shootings recorded in 2023, according to city crime data.

Bond Hill Park, a neighborhood green space located on Reading Road in the Bond Hill community, sits in a residential part of the city’s northeast side. The area around Yarmouth Avenue is surrounded by homes and small streets, making the late-night shooting a jarring event for the neighborhood.

Police have not commented publicly on what may have led to the shooting or whether there were any witnesses at the scene. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is expected to conduct a full examination to confirm the official cause and manner of death.

Rosemond’s death marks another painful reminder of the ongoing challenge Cincinnati faces in addressing gun violence, even as overall numbers trend downward. City leaders and law enforcement have pointed to community engagement efforts and targeted policing strategies as factors behind recent reductions in shootings, but individual tragedies like this one underscore the work that remains.
