Head-On Collision Kills Millersburg Woman, Renee Taylor, Injures Three Near Township Road 626

A Sunday evening drive turned fatal in Holmes County, Ohio, after a head-on crash claimed the life of a Millersburg woman and left three others injured, including two juveniles airlifted in critical condition.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers were called to the scene on U.S. Route 62 near Township Road 626 at approximately 8:41 p.m. on June 21, 2026. What they found was the aftermath of a violent collision between two vehicles traveling in opposite directions.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2016 Honda Pilot was traveling west on U.S. Route 62 when it crossed left of the center line and struck a Jeep Cherokee heading east. The impact proved devastating for everyone involved.

The driver of the Honda Pilot has been identified by the Highway Patrol as Renee Troyer, 49, of Millersburg. She was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a community now grappling with the sudden loss of one of its own.

Injuries and Ongoing Investigation

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, a 32-year-old, was airlifted to an Akron-area hospital with serious injuries. Two juvenile passengers riding in the same vehicle were also flown by medical helicopter to receive treatment for critical injuries sustained in the crash.

The severity of the injuries to the younger passengers has weighed heavily on those following the story, as the community holds out hope for their recovery.

Holmes County, a tight-knit rural area, often feels the ripple effects of tragedies like this one deeply, with news traveling quickly among neighbors, churches, and local families.

As of this report, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has not released additional details about the cause of the crash beyond the preliminary finding that the Honda Pilot crossed into oncoming traffic. Investigators continue to examine the scene and gather evidence to determine what led to the vehicle leaving its lane.

Crashes involving a vehicle crossing the center line are among the most dangerous types of roadway collisions, often resulting in severe, high-speed, head-on impacts.

Factors that can contribute to such crashes include medical emergencies, distraction, fatigue, or hazardous road conditions, though officials have not indicated which, if any, of these factors played a role in Sunday’s collision.

Route 62 is a well-traveled corridor through Holmes County, connecting several communities in the region, and locals say crashes along the stretch are an unfortunate but recurring concern.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has asked anyone with information about the crash to come forward as the investigation continues. No further details about funeral or memorial arrangements for Troyer have been publicly released at this time.

This remains a developing story, and updates will follow as the Highway Patrol releases additional information about the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
