Hernando High School Alumnus Diego Flores Huerta Remembered After Fatal Crash in Mississippi

Diego Flores Huerta, age 19, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away on April 14, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, following injuries sustained in a tragic car accident.

Born on January 18, 2007, in Southaven, Mississippi, Diego’s life, though far too short, was filled with promise, dedication, and a strong sense of family and friendship that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Diego graduated from Hernando High School with the Class of 2025. After high school, he continued his education at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he pursued civil engineering.

Those close to him often spoke about his determination and focus, noting his desire to build a future shaped by hard work and meaningful achievement. He carried himself with quiet ambition, always looking ahead and striving to improve himself.

Alongside his studies, Diego worked in plant maintenance at Milwaukee Tools. In his role, he was known for being dependable and hardworking, someone who approached his responsibilities with care and attention to detail.

His coworkers and those around him appreciated his willingness to help and his steady presence on the job.

Outside of school and work, Diego was a young man full of energy and interests. He was a passionate supporter of the LSU Tigers and the Cleveland Browns, often following their games closely.

Sports played a large part in his life, not only as a fan but also as a personal passion that connected him with friends and family.

He enjoyed staying active, spending time at the gym, and taking part in outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed video games, which gave him a way to relax and connect with others socially.

Family was central in Diego’s life. He shared a close bond with his younger sister Kendra, and one of the most cherished memories remembered by loved ones was the time he spent throwing a frisbee with her.

These simple yet meaningful moments reflected his playful nature and the warmth he brought into everyday life. He was known for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the genuine care he showed to those around him.

Diego is survived by his parents, Osbaldo Flores and Gabriela Huerta, as well as his siblings, Luis Flores Huerta and Kendra Flores Huerta.

He also leaves behind extended family members, including his aunts, Cruz Huerta and Lurdes Huerta; uncles, Adan Flores and Mario Vera, and cousins Adan Flores, Alejandro Flores, Stephenie Vera, and Arturo Vera.

He is also remembered by close family friends Bobby and Wanda Lambert, Keith and Amy Williams, Murray and Sandra Spain, Barry W. Bridgforth, and Lucie Bridgforth, all of whom share in the sorrow of his passing.

Friends and community members will gather to honor Diego’s life at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Highway 51 South in Hernando, Mississippi.

Visitation will take place on April 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

These services provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together, share memories, and celebrate the life of a young man who meant so much to so many.

Diego will be remembered for his dedication, his love for family, and the positive energy he brought into the lives of others. His absence leaves a deep void, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
