Carlo Ritacco, 51, of Kinnelon, New Jersey, passed away on July 1, 2026. He leaves behind a wife, two sons, parents, siblings, and a wide circle of family and friends who describe him as the heart of every gathering.
Ritacco was born on April 16, 1975, in Belleville, New Jersey, to Michele and Immacolata (Gencarelli) Ritacco.
He went on to build a successful career in construction, rising to Vice President of Field Operations at Ritacco Construction. Colleagues and family members remember him for his leadership, dedication, and strong work ethic.
A Life Centered on Family
Those who knew Ritacco say family always came first. He was known for making time for the people he loved, whether that meant a weekend of fishing or hunting, hosting a family gathering, or standing on the sidelines cheering for his sons during their wrestling careers.
Carlo found his greatest joy in creating lasting memories with the people closest to him.
He also shared a close bond with his dog, Java, who was by his side as a constant companion through the years.
Remembered for His Warmth and Humor
Friends and relatives describe Ritacco as someone with a larger-than-life personality, a natural entertainer who had a gift for making others laugh. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on nearly everyone who crossed his path.
His niece, Gianna Ritacco Caiazzo, shared a tribute online noting that she and her uncle shared the same birthday, calling him someone who loved living life to the fullest and cared deeply about everyone around him. She wrote that she plans to make sure her son grows up knowing how much his great-uncle loved him.

Services and Ways to Honor Carlo
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 8 p.m. at Scanlan’s Funeral Home in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Cremation will take place privately.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Kinnelon, with additional details to be released by the family.
Instead of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made to Kinnelon Jr. Colt Wrestling, a program close to Ritacco’s heart given his sons’ involvement in the sport.
