A Livingston Parish teacher and football coach has been booked into a parish detention center following a months-long investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a female student.
Stepfan Henderson, 34, who served as a defensive backs coach and Business English and Technical Writing teacher at Live Oak High School in Watson, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of molestation of a juvenile — forcible fondling. All three charges are felonies under Louisiana law.
Henderson was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center over the weekend. Bond was set at $350,000, which the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed he has since posted.
Investigation Launched After School Officials Raised the Alarm
The case began in mid-April when school administrators received a report of sexual misconduct involving Henderson and a female student. School officials immediately contacted the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and requested a formal investigation.
Henderson was placed on administrative leave on April 16 — the same day the report reached the school’s administrative office.
When detectives initially spoke with Henderson, he flatly denied any inappropriate contact with the student. However, investigators were not satisfied with his account.
“After speaking with the teacher/coach, he denied the allegations/contact with the student,” said Sheriff Jason Ard. “Detectives were able to prove otherwise via electronic surveillance through our investigation.”
The details of the electronic surveillance were not made public, but the evidence was reportedly sufficient for authorities to move forward with Henderson’s arrest. The investigation was handled by Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives.
Henderson had been employed with the Livingston Parish Public School System for two years. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he worked as an assistant football coach, specifically coaching defensive backs on the Live Oak High School squad.
School District Responds, Contract Not Renewed
Following Henderson’s arrest, the Livingston Parish Public School System issued an official statement addressing the situation and outlining the steps the district had taken since the initial report.
“The Livingston Parish Public School System has learned of the arrest of Stepfan Henderson, a former teacher and former coach at Live Oak High School, in connection with allegations of wrongful conduct,” the statement read.
The district confirmed that Henderson’s employment contract was already set to expire at the end of the 2025–2026 school year, and that his contract has not been renewed.
Although technically still employed when the investigation began, he was placed on administrative leave immediately after the misconduct report and never returned to school grounds.
School officials emphasized their commitment to student safety and stated they would continue cooperating with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office as the investigation moves forward. The district directed all further questions on the matter to the sheriff’s office.
The case is still developing, and no additional details about the victim or the specific nature of the electronic surveillance evidence have been released by authorities. Henderson’s next court appearance has not yet been publicly announced.
Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office directly.
