Emma Sue Leslie of Bristol, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on August 18, 1941, to the late Joseph L. and Pearl Stitt.
A lifelong resident of Bristol, she spent her life rooted in the community she called home and was known for her warm presence and dedication to her family.
She attended Tennessee High School, where she participated as a majorette in the Mighty Viking Band.
Those early school years remained a meaningful part of her life, and she often carried fond memories of her time in school and the friendships she formed there. Her connection to her hometown remained strong throughout her life.
Emma Sue Leslie was preceded in death by her brothers Alanzo Stitt, Bill Stitt, Jack Stitt, and David Pool Stitt, as well as her sisters Betty Frazier and Joyce Allison. She now joins them in rest, reunited with her siblings who passed before her.
She is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Karrie McNutt and her husband Jackie; her son, Rick Leslie; her grandchildren Brandy Wilson and husband Lee, Stephanie Geffers and husband Kyle, Manny Leslie, and Heath Leslie; and her great-grandchildren Jamie Ball, Abigail Geffers, Lara Wilson, Jasmine Geffers, Christian Geffers, Harper Wilson, Isaiah Geffers, and Knox Wilson.
Her family was an important part of her life, and she took great pride in watching her family grow across generations.
The family has expressed sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Ballad Health Hospice for their compassionate care and support during her final days. Their kindness brought comfort to her and her loved ones during a difficult time.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Trinity Memorial Centers, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tennessee.
A funeral service will follow from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with Pastor Pete Booher officiating. These services will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to come together to honor and remember her life.
Emma Sue Leslie will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her lifelong ties to Bristol, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.
Her memory will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the love and values she shared with them.
