A family is appealing to the public for help after 29-year-old Lucy Britton went missing on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, while travelling by train from Norfolk to Bishop’s Stortford.
Six days on, there has been no confirmed sighting of her, and those who love her are growing increasingly desperate for answers.
Lucy set off from Cromer Station at around 7 pm that Tuesday evening. Her planned route would have taken her through Norwich before continuing on to Bishop’s Stortford, where she had an Airbnb booked and waiting.
But Lucy never made it. The hosts of the Airbnb confirmed she did not check in, and no one has been able to account for her whereabouts since she was last spotted on the platform at Cromer as her train was pulling in.
She was travelling with a medium-sized trolley case and was wearing an orange and grey backpack, details that her brother Tom Britton has shared publicly in a heartfelt appeal on Facebook, urging people across Norfolk, Cambridge, Bishop’s Stortford, and all stations and routes in between to keep their eyes open.
Tom, who posted the appeal alongside Lucy’s name, described her as vulnerable and said she may be confused or distressed.
The family’s concern is clear in every word of his post, and friends have rallied around with messages of support pouring in from people who know and care for Lucy.
One friend wrote that she was thinking of Tom and his family, while a former colleague who worked with Lucy said he was sending his love and hope to everyone waiting for news.
The route Lucy was travelling is a busy one, passing through several stations and towns across East Anglia and into Hertfordshire.
Authorities and her family are particularly hoping that someone along that corridor, whether a fellow passenger, a station worker, a taxi driver, or an Airbnb host, may have seen or spoken to Lucy at some point during the evening of the 12th or in the days that followed.
Anyone who may have seen a young woman matching Lucy’s description, travelling alone with a trolley case and an orange and grey backpack, or anyone who has any information at all, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it may seem, is being urged to contact the police immediately on 101, quoting the name Lucy Britton.
Alternatively, people can reach out to Tom Britton directly through his Facebook page.
The family and those who know Lucy are sharing the appeal as widely as possible and are specifically asking people in Norfolk, Cambridge, Bishop’s Stortford, and all points along the train routes between those areas to share the post and stay alert.
Lucy is 29 years old, described as vulnerable, and has now been missing for nearly a week. Every share, every pair of eyes, and every piece of information counts.
If you have seen Lucy or know anything about her whereabouts since the evening of Tuesday, 12th May 2026, please do not hesitate. Call 101 and quote the name Lucy Britton, or contact her family directly through Facebook.
Please share this story. Someone out there may have the answer this family so desperately needs.
