A search for a missing Oceanside woman is entering its second week after she vanished during what appears to have been a hike on Palomar Mountain.
Angelica Brophy, 44, was reported missing on July 6 and has not been seen since. Family members say Brophy works as an ER nurse at Kaiser San Marcos.
Brophy is described as standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. Her vehicle was located on Palomar Mountain, which is where searchers have focused their efforts, though the search area has since widened as leads have dried up.
Massive Search Effort So Far
Crews have spent more than two and a half days combing the mountain and surrounding terrain without finding solid leads. The search has involved a wide range of resources, including:
- San Diego County Search and Rescue teams
- K9 units trained to track scent
- Horseback search teams
- Drones and helicopters for aerial coverage
- Divers checking nearby water sources
- Volunteer ground search crews on foot
Despite the scale of the operation, no confirmed sightings or physical evidence have led investigators to Brophy’s location. Authorities are now asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
Community Rallies to Spread the Word
As the search stretches on, Brophy’s family and friends have turned to social media to widen the reach of her missing person flyer, hoping someone who was on the mountain that day may have seen her. Comments flooding in show a community desperate for answers, with many expressing shock that word of her disappearance only reached them a week later.
One commenter, identified as a cousin, thanked people for sharing the post and helping spread awareness. Others pointed out that Brophy had visited Palomar Mountain before and suggested that investigators look into her recorded hiking routes on fitness tracking apps, since she may have followed a familiar path.
Some worried aloud that the ongoing heat could complicate both her situation and the search itself, while others simply left prayers and well wishes for her safe return.
The Oceanside Police Department is leading the investigation into her disappearance. Anyone who may have seen Angelica Brophy on or around Palomar Mountain since July 6, or who has any information about where she might be, is urged to call the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4900.
As the days pass without answers, loved ones say they remain hopeful but increasingly anxious, and they are continuing to push for the flyer to be shared as widely as possible in case someone, somewhere, has seen her.
