Pierce Lenton Hinkston of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 20. He was born on February 25, 2006, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Bryan Lenton Hinkston and Sara Ledford Slone.
Now his family is asking the community for help as they prepare to say goodbye and cover the costs that come with a sudden loss.
A Life Remembered by Family and Friends
Pierce graduated from Danville High School in 2024, where he was part of the wrestling team. Those who knew him describe a young man full of energy and heart. He loved gaming and spending time with friends online, but he was just as happy at home wrestling around with his little brother, building memories his family says they will hold onto forever.
Animals held a special place in his life, especially his dog Stan, who was always by his side. He also had a soft spot for cats. Family members remember his playful side too, the way he liked to tease his brothers and sisters, always in good fun and always with love behind it.
Pierce also had a creative streak. He enjoyed photography and found beauty in everyday moments. In the kitchen, he liked to experiment with new recipes, and whether he was cooking at home or eating out, he was never afraid to order the most adventurous thing on the menu.
He is survived by his mother, Sara Slone; his father, Bryan Hinkston; five siblings, grandparents on both sides, great-grandmothers; aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Chris Hinkston, and his cousin, Alexis Murphy.
Community Support Through GoFundMe
A fundraiser titled Support for Pierce Hinkston’s Funeral was organized by Angela VanHoose and Jessica Fraser on behalf of Diana Honaker, Pierce’s paternal grandmother. The page explains that funds raised will go toward funeral and burial expenses, along with helping the family manage the transition of caring for Pierce’s belongings.
As of now, the fundraiser has brought in close to five hundred dollars from nine donors, working toward a goal of five thousand dollars. Organizers say every contribution, no matter the size, helps ease the burden on a family trying to process an unimaginable loss.
In a message posted with the fundraiser, the organizers thanked everyone who has already reached out with prayers, kindness and support, saying it means more than words can express.
