Tacoma, WA, Woman Teya Cavalier Dies in Tragic Car Accident, Community Mourns

Family and friends across Tacoma, Washington, are grieving the sudden death of Teya Cavalier, who was killed in what relatives describe as a horrific car accident. The news broke through social media as loved ones shared tributes calling for people to hold their families close.

Gary “Denny” Cavalier, who identified himself as Teya’s uncle, shared the news online, writing that there were no words to describe the loss and urging others to hug their kids.

The post quickly drew an outpouring of comments from family, friends, and community members offering prayers and support to the Cavalier family.

Family Remembers Her as the Heart of Their Circle

Sara Cavalier Young described Teya as being like her own child before she had children of her own, recalling how Teya helped care for her kids whenever she could. She remembered Teya as the family’s constant companion on vacations and someone who spent entire summers with them even after they moved away, saying the Cavalier family would never be the same without her.

Other relatives echoed that sentiment. Nicole Cavalier Byrd, Monjay Cavalier, Ac Cavalier, and Lamonte Cavalier were named among those asked to keep the family in their prayers, with one cousin writing that losing a loved one is never easy while asking others to rest easy knowing she is at peace.

Friends from outside the immediate family also stepped forward with memories. One woman who said she had not spoken to Teya since high school remembered her as sweet, smart, and kind, while another friend described her as goofy, loyal, and full of light, going back to their time together as young girls through adulthood. A third friend recalled Teya’s laugh and the nickname she used for her, saying the news had broken her heart.

Community Reflects on a String of Recent Losses

Several people commenting on the tributes noted that this loss comes amid what they described as a painful stretch for the local community, with multiple unexpected deaths in recent memory. One friend wrote that her heart genuinely ached, calling on others to hug and cherish the people in their lives while they can.

Neighbors and acquaintances who did not know Teya personally also left messages of support for the Cavalier family, including Rt Jamison, Todd Nuttman, Brian Lacey, and Marcus Gonzales, all of whom offered condolences and said the family was in their thoughts.

No further details about the circumstances of the accident have been made public. Funeral and memorial arrangements have not yet been announced.
