Virginia Beach Police are investigating a tragic series of events that began with the death of an infant and ended in a fatal shooting on Magnolia Chase Way.
On May 31, 2026, around 9 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services received a call reporting a domestic assault. As officers approached the residence in the 5000 block of Magnolia Chase Way, they heard gunfire.
Inside, police discovered 22-year-old Natasha Forbes deceased. Quentell Lawrence, also 22, was found with life-threatening, self-inflicted injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe Lawrence shot Forbes before turning the gun on himself. Charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony have already been secured against him.
Infant Death Connected to the Case
This homicide followed another heartbreaking incident involving the same individuals. On May 30, 2026, a call was made to ECCS reporting an unresponsive child in a vehicle traveling along Lynnhaven Parkway.
Emergency personnel instructed the caller to stop and perform CPR. Despite efforts, the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause and manner of the infant’s death. Police have confirmed the child was connected to Forbes and Lawrence, though further details have not been released.
Ongoing Investigation
The Virginia Beach Police Department has emphasized that this remains an active investigation. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service was also present at the scene, assisting with inquiries.
