The Washington, D.C., community is mourning the loss of Eli Mehring, a Jackson Reed High School alumnus whose passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from friends, former classmates, and members of the Tiger community.
Jackson Reed Tiger Boosters announced the news in a heartfelt social media post, describing Mehring as a member of the Wilson High School Class of 2018, the former name of Jackson Reed High School.
The organization said his death has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, classmates, and everyone who knew him.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at Temple Sinai on Military Road NW in Washington, D.C.
The school community also encouraged supporters to keep Mehring’s loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The announcement quickly drew dozens of responses from people who remembered Mehring and expressed sympathy to those closest to him.

A career at Uber followed years of academic and professional growth
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mehring built a career in sales and recruitment after graduating from college.
At the time of his passing, he worked as an Account Representative for Uber in Chicago, focusing on Uber Eats small and medium business accounts. He had held the position since March 2024.
Before joining Uber, Mehring worked as a Recruitment Consultant at Michael Page in Chicago from June 2023 through March 2024.
Earlier in his career, he completed a recruiting internship with Robert Half in Menlo Park, California, and participated in Gartner’s Sophomore Summit leadership program in 2021.
Mehring earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Miami University, where he studied from 2018 through 2023.
During his time at the university, he also attended the Miami University John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg, expanding his academic experience abroad.
His LinkedIn profile also highlighted volunteer work at Camp Airy, where he served as a community volunteer during the summer of 2017.
Friends and professional connections remembered Mehring as someone who regularly celebrated the accomplishments of others.
