The Mount Vernon community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of baby Westin Raymond Lawrence Ellis, who passed away at just 1 month old.
His obituary, published by Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel, described him as “the light of our lives” whose brief time on earth deeply impacted everyone around him.
According to the family, Westin was surrounded by love even before his birth. Loved ones shared that they celebrated every step of the pregnancy and cherished every moment they had with him after he arrived. His passing has left his parents and relatives devastated as they try to navigate an unimaginable loss.
Westin is survived by his parents, Hayden Ellis and Mykiah Bowers, along with many family members, including his grandmother Brandy Ament, sister Raevyn Hall, aunt Eternity Mosier, uncle Sebastion Ellis, and several extended relatives and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents, Lawrence and Linda Ziegler, and his uncle Zackery White.
Family Launches Memorial Fund for Baby Westin
As the family grieves, a fundraiser titled “Help Lay Baby Westin to Rest” has been created to assist with funeral and memorial expenses.
Organized by Brandy Ament of Mount Vernon, Ohio, the campaign explains that the funds will help provide Westin with a resting place beside his great-great-grandfather while also easing some of the financial burden facing the family.
The fundraiser has already received support from dozens of donors. Contributions from community members and loved ones have helped raise nearly $3,000 toward the family’s goal.
Messages of sympathy continue to pour in as supporters offer prayers, donations, and words of comfort.
In the fundraiser description, the family shared that Westin’s loss has created “a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.” They also expressed gratitude for the kindness shown during this difficult period, saying every donation and shared message reminds them they are not facing the tragedy alone.
