Brianna Marie VanderVeen, born November 14, 2005, was a cherished young woman from Grand Rapids, Michigan, who passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 20.

In addition to her academic achievements, Brianna was a passionate and determined athlete. She was a four-year varsity lacrosse player and played a key role in advocating for a combined high school program when her school did not have a team.

Her leadership and determination helped create opportunities for athletes across Kenowa Hills, Jenison, and Comstock Park to compete together. Teammates and coaches remember her as a driven competitor who led by example, both on and off the field.

Family, Character, and Lasting Impact

Brianna is survived by her loving family, including her mother Celesta, father Paul VanderVeen, stepfather Stephen Junewick II, and brother Alex.

She is also survived by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many extended family members and close friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Her family remembers her as a bright light whose love and energy brought them closer together.

Even in her passing, Brianna continued to impact others through her decision to become an organ donor, fulfilling a wish to give the gift of life to those in need.
