Parowan Softball Player and Student Dusty Rose Dalley, 12, Dies After Side-by-Side Rolls and Catches Fire Near Iron County Fairgrounds

A devastating accident claimed the life of a 12-year-old Parowan girl on Friday evening after the side-by-side utility vehicle she was riding in rolled over and erupted in flames near the Iron County Fairgrounds.

Dusty Rose Dalley, born August 9, 2013, was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a heartbroken family and a community struggling to make sense of an unimaginable loss.

The crash happened around 6:49 p.m. on June 12, 2026, near the Valentine Peak Sports Complex in Parowan. Dusty and a 13-year-old girl were riding together in the side-by-side when the vehicle approached an angled section of road.

Investigators with the Iron County Sheriff’s Office believe the driver turned too wide, causing the wheels to catch and sending the vehicle into a rollover.

The side-by-side caught fire during the crash. The 13-year-old managed to escape and suffered injuries, but Dusty was trapped inside and could not get out before the flames took over.

When first responders reached the scene, the vehicle was already completely engulfed. The fire burned so fiercely that responding crews initially thought they were dealing with a burning truck rather than a smaller utility vehicle.

A trauma counselor was dispatched alongside emergency crews to support witnesses and those affected at the scene. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and has pledged a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Short Life of a Girl Who Made Everyone Feel Loved

Dusty Rose was the daughter of Justin and Kim Dalley and a sister to Stetson, Hunter, and Haddie. Everyone who crossed her path seemed to walk away better for it.

She played softball and basketball with the same heart she brought to the dance floor, and spent her happiest moments outdoors, whether camping, fishing, or spending time around horses. She loved baking for the people she cared about and had an effortless way of making others feel welcome and valued.

Her family described her as someone whose smile could fill a room and whose kindness was never an afterthought. She is survived by her parents, three siblings, and her grandparents, Michelle Harris and Rob and Tonya Dalley, along with a wide circle of extended family, teammates, classmates, and friends.

The Dalley family is also asking for prayers for the teenage girl who survived the crash, referring to her warmly as their Bekah Girl, as she works through her recovery.

Parowan school officials released a statement describing the community as deeply shaken by the tragedy. Free mental health support is available for students, including walk-in counseling on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Those who prefer a scheduled appointment can text 81010 with the message @2getherphs.

Cedar Valley Funeral and Cremation is handling arrangements, with service details to be announced. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the Dalley family during this time.

Dusty Rose Dalley lived twelve years, and in those twelve years, she gave more love than most people manage in a lifetime.
