Darron Arturo Jose Trevino, a 24-year-old nurse from Port Huron, Michigan, died unexpectedly on June 19, 2026. His family and community have spent the past week sharing tributes and memories of a young man many describe as one of the kindest people they ever knew.
Trevino was born on July 26, 2001, in Port Huron to Jose and Teresa Trevino. He grew up in the area and attended Port Huron High School, where he was a standout student-athlete and was named Homecoming King.
Friends and classmates from his school years have continued to post messages on his memorial page, recalling his confidence, his humor, and the way he made people around him feel welcome.
After graduating from high school, Trevino went on to Ferris State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors. He then began working at Corewell Health as a registered nurse on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
Colleagues say he quickly became known for his dedication to patients and his ability to bring energy and laughter into long hospital shifts.
During his time there, he received the Rookie of the Year award and was named Nursing Team Member of the Month. Within a year, he had been promoted to Charge Nurse, a reflection of the leadership and clinical skill his coworkers say he showed from the start.
Family, Faith, and Friendships Remembered
Outside of work, those close to Trevino describe a man who loved his family deeply and made time for the people who mattered most to him. He enjoyed working out with his brother Donovan and shared a standing Sunday breakfast tradition with his brother Dominic, a time the two used to talk and catch up.
He often surprised his sister Isabella with small gifts and was known for keeping up their daily snap streak, a detail several family members mentioned fondly in tribute posts.
Trevino was also active in his church and described by loved ones as someone whose Christian faith shaped how he treated others. He enjoyed anime and traveling, and friends say he never hesitated to offer encouragement or honest advice when someone needed it.
He is survived by his parents, Jose and Teresa Trevino, his brothers Dominic and Donovan Trevino, his sister Isabella Trevino, his girlfriend Brenda Calmo, and a wide extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins and close friends.
On social media, former coworkers and classmates have shared stories of his impact. One coworker recalled working alongside him during shifts at a senior care facility, saying he and a friend would spend the day cracking jokes and keeping residents in good spirits, making the hours pass quickly for everyone on staff.
A local Facebook group has also been collecting photos and memories from the community to compile a tribute for the family.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the start of a 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, June 26, at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center in Kimball, Michigan. Burial will follow at Ruby Cemetery, with Reverend Dr. G. Patrick Thompson officiating.
Instead of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Port Huron High School Football Program in his memory.
