Tyrone Volleyball Player Taylan McGlynn, 19, Dies in Blair County Crash, Leaving Her Loved Ones!!!

A teenage girl from Tyrone is dead following a late-night single-vehicle crash in Blair County early Sunday morning. Taylan McGlynn, 19, lost her life in an accident on Kettle Road near Wagon Road in Tyrone Township, according to officials from the Blair County Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Ray Benton confirmed that his office received the call just before 1:45 in the morning on June 7. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators determined that McGlynn had died as a result of injuries she suffered in the crash. Benton noted that McGlynn was among the occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

While a full investigation remains ongoing, the coroner’s office stated that alcohol is suspected to have contributed to the crash. An autopsy was conducted on Sunday to help establish the official cause of death.

Pennsylvania State Police have not yet issued a detailed crash report, and further information about other occupants in the vehicle has not been publicly released.

A Teammate, A Daughter, A Community Left Grieving

Those who knew Taylan McGlynn are remembering her as far more than a name in a news report. She graduated from Tyrone High School in 2025 and spent four years competing on the school’s varsity volleyball team from 2022 through her senior season.

Standing at 5 feet 8 inches and wearing jersey number 6, she was a consistent presence on the court for the Golden Eagles program. Game footage from her final season shows a player with real skill and passion for the sport, putting up kills and blocks against tough Mountain League opponents, including Huntingdon, Bellwood-Antis, Central Mountain, and Central Cambria.

Volleyball was not just a hobby for McGlynn. It was a part of who she was throughout her high school years, and those who watched her play saw a young woman who competed hard and brought energy to her team. For her family, her coaches, and her former teammates, the news of her death is a loss that cuts deeply.

The Tyrone community is a close one, and tragedies like this one do not pass quietly. Neighbors, classmates, and fellow athletes were among those grappling with the news as Sunday progressed.

McGlynn had only recently stepped beyond the halls of Tyrone High School, a young woman with her whole future ahead of her.

The details surrounding the crash serve as a painful reminder of how quickly and permanently a single decision behind the wheel can change everything. Alcohol-related crashes remain one of the leading causes of preventable deaths on Pennsylvania roads, and single-vehicle accidents late at night account for a significant share of those fatalities every year.

Taylan McGlynn was 19 years old. She leaves behind a family devastated by her sudden loss and a community that will not soon forget her. As the investigation continues, Blair County mourns one of its own taken far too soon.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced publicly as of Sunday evening.
