Jacksonville, TX, mourns Veteran and Father Caden Edward Wofford, 28

Caden Edward Wofford, known to nearly everyone who loved him simply as Cade, passed away on May 4, 2026, at just 28 years old.

In a life that was far too short, he managed to fill every role he was given with a kind of quiet dedication that left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He was a son, a husband, a father, a veteran, and a faithful servant to his community and his church.

Cade was born on March 20, 1998, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Jason and Stephanie Wofford. He grew up in a household full of love, shaped by two parents he openly admired and credited as the best he could have ever asked for.

Jacksonville was always home to him, and no matter where life took him, that sense of rootedness never left.

After completing his early years in Texas, Cade made the decision to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, where he served with the United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa from 2018 to 2021.

During that time, he worked as a Senior Airman on the KC-135 and RC-135 aircraft, fulfilling NATO orders during the final years of the Global War on Terror.

His service earned him a distinguished collection of honors, including the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal for Operation Allies Refuge, the Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, the Air and Space Overseas Service Ribbon Long, and the Air and Space Longevity Service Award.

He served with pride and came home carrying both the experience and the character that military life had sharpened in him.

Back in Jacksonville, Cade built a life that revolved around the people he loved most. He married Victoria, and together they raised two boys, Jacob Edward and Collin Thomas.

Anyone who spent time around Cade and his sons could see without question how seriously he took fatherhood.

Saturday afternoons were made for building Legos on the living room floor and sending Hot Wheels cars across every surface in the house. He showed up for his boys in the small moments just as much as the big ones, and that consistency spoke volumes about the man he was.

His faith was central to who he was. Cade served on the Finance Committee at First Methodist Church and sat on the board of the Methodist Readiness School, giving his time and attention to the institutions that he believed made his community stronger.

On weekends when he was not at church or with family, he could be found at the grill, out hunting, or cheering on the Aggies with the kind of enthusiasm that made every gathering better.

He is survived by his wife Victoria; his sons Jacob and Collin; his parents Jason and Stephanie Wofford; his grandparents Rodney and Karen Wofford and Jesse and Debbie Fremont; his in-laws Keith and Vickie Intlehouse; and a wide circle of siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Caden Edward Wofford will not be forgotten. He loved his people fiercely, and they will carry him forward.
