San Angelo’s Jorge Perez, Owner of Perez Painting, Dies Unexpectedly; Family Requests Community Prayers

Jorge Perez, a San Angelo man known for his contagious smile and warm personality, has passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a devastated family and a community struggling to make sense of the loss.

Word of his passing spread rapidly across social media after his cousin Martin Sanchez shared a heartfelt post asking friends and loved ones to keep the Perez family in their prayers. The news hit hard for those who knew Jorge, with many describing the loss as something they never saw coming.

Martin wrote that the entire family was shocked and that Jorge’s death represented a tremendous loss not just for one household but for two families deeply connected by blood and love.

Those who knew Jorge personally wasted no time sharing memories of the kind of person he was. Friends described him as someone who brought a certain energy into any space he entered. Diana Mendez, a friend who posted her own tribute, said that whenever you saw Jorge, you immediately felt the good vibes he carried with him.

She called him a great man taken far too soon, someone who was always smiling and always making the most of whatever moment he was in. Lance Fiedler added that Jorge had a gift for making people laugh and that his presence was genuinely something to appreciate.

Jorge was a San Angelo native who built a life rooted in hard work and family. He was the owner of Perez Painting, a local business he ran in San Angelo, Texas.

People who hired him or crossed paths with him through work knew him as reliable and dedicated. Outside of work, he was a devoted family member who was close to his parents, his siblings, and his extended family spread across both the Perez and Sanchez families.

He is survived by his mother and father, his brother Eric, his sister Beba, his in-laws, his nieces and nephews, and, most heartbreakingly, his young daughter.

The thought of his baby girl growing up without her father has weighed heavily on those mourning him, and tributes from friends consistently mentioned her and the rest of his immediate family in their prayers.

The response from the community was swift and deeply emotional. Dozens of people flooded social media with messages of condolence, sharing memories and expressing love for a man who clearly meant a great deal to many people in San Angelo.

Joe Guerra wrote that he understood how tight the family bond was and let them know they had his full support and love during such a painful time.

Funeral services were held in San Angelo following his passing. Friends and family gathered at Gutierrez Funeral Home at 1002 N. Oaks for a viewing on June 2, 2026, starting at 1:30 in the afternoon, with a Rosary service at 6:30 that evening.

A Catholic Mass was held the following morning on June 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., with burial at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Jorge Perez is gone too soon, but the love his community has shown makes clear that his memory will not fade anytime soon.
